IS NIGERIA'S PROBLEM CORRUPTION OR GREED?

"Help others achieve their dreams and you will achieve yours."

~ Les Brown

That is the missing link, “Helping Others.” “If you light a lamp for someone else, it will also brighten your own path” ~ Nichiren Daishonin

our greatest challenge as a Nation and as a people is selfishness and Greed and not the much hyped corruption. Corruption loosely defined is “Dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power, typically involving bribery”

If you call the taking of bribe by Policemen to ameliorate their meager earnings corruption, what will you call Farouk Lawan collecting a whopping $620,000 from Businessman Femi Otedola? For the records Farouk Muhammad Lawan is a member of the House of Representatives since 1999 (Millions of Nigerians will never be poor if given only four years in that House) representing the Bagwa/Shanono Federal Constituency of Kano State a man who had in past headed the integrity group in the House and ensured that former Speaker Patricia Etteh was kicked out of office. Farouk Lawan was made to chair the House Committee that investigated the Fuel Subsidy scam and was accused of demanding for and received the above sum as bribe. The case is still in Court and Farouk Lawan is a serving member of the House of Representatives.

Farouk Muhammad Lawan was elected to represent his people, he did not become popular for doing so much for his people, he gained notoriety for accepting bribe and no matter the outcome of the Court proceedings, his Political career will never be the same again. How do you explain the mind boggling ‎amounts said to be stolen by Politicians? As Prof. Wole Soyinka said "We have enough for everyone's needs but not enough for everyone's Greed" we must change.

Senator Ben Murray Bruce put it correctly when he said “We pay no attention to the least of us and our response is to live in buildings with high-wired fences, buy bullet proof cars, have more guards and high proportion of police protecting us and not the poor that cannot work, we must understand that we must all grow and develop together as a people, anyone you leave behind, you create a problem for the rest of us”

As Zig Ziglar said "You can have everything in Life you want, if you will just help enough other people get what they want" serving others seems to be the Magic Wand that unlocks the flow of abundance. John F. Kennedy said "Ask not what your Country can do for you, ask what you can do for your Country" in doing this we replace "I" with "WE" in all that we do, especially as public office holders. Is that not how our Constitution begins? We the people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The ABC of life is Service, Service and Service; Service to God, Service to Nation and Service to Humanity at large but many a politician had replaced that with Acquire, Acquire and Acquire.
“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others” ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Today make conscious effort to be a Blessing to someone, give a helping hand in any way you can, visit the Orphanage, visit Prisons, show some love, be considerate of others and Always, Always remember "The World is a Mirror and reflects to every man the reflection of his Face"

See you on Top!!!
