GOV. AMAECHI'S SELF IMPOSED CHALLENGES
“Tonight
I remember all the challenges ROTIMI AMAECHI has faced and felt like praying
for him...” ~ Dele Momodu
I think it
would have been fair to say “Tonight I
remember all the Challenges Rotimi Amaechi had put himself through and felt
like Praying for him” truth is everything Gov. Amaechi had gone through had
been his own doing and YES CHIBUIKE ROTIMI AMACHI needs Prayers.
I recall at
the height of tensions between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and His
Excellency Ahmed Bola Tinubu, we never witnessed these kind of belligerence
from Gov, Tinubu towards OBJ. For starters; Bola Tinubu is a Democrat per
excellence, it is a quality many who parade our Political Space lacks. He not
only spoke about democracy he fought for it. He successfully ruled arguably a
mini Nigeria of a State and produced a successor that is seen by many as a
success himself. Former Gov. Tinubu could have seized every opportunity to denigrate
OBJ, but he did not, why?
I want to
believe that former Gov. Tinubu understands that power is transient and that
there is life outside office. Secondly; even though he may have reasons to
disrespect OBJ as a person, he respected the office of President.
These are
lessons Gov. Amaechi ought and should imbibe, Power indeed is Transient. There
is life outside Government House. His disrespect for His Excellency Goodluck
Jonathan notwithstanding, he should at least respect the office of the
Presidency. Is it not surprising that Amaechi is making news as a performing Governor
but as a Governor who uses every forum and medium to bad mouth Mr. President,
his family and the Presidency?
I also don’t think
that Rotimi Amaechi want to be remembered only as the Governor who fought a war
of words with the Presidency and those urging him on this path are not his
friends. Like Anuj Somany rightly said "A dog is a good friend of a man and perhaps better than many of his friends."
