INSULT

An injury is much sooner forgotten than an insult.
~ Lord Chesterfield

Insults! we give them, we receive them, for some daily, for many directly and for a select few indirectly. Newspaper articles, social media, on the road, in the office, compound, at home, from Friends, associates, wife, husband, children, boss, colleagues, taxi drivers, bike riders, etc.
Many times it's unexpected and we are at a loss as to how to respond but what is an Insult?

An insult is to do or say something that is offensive to (someone): to do or say something that show a lack of respect for (someone) Its an expression, statement (or sometimes behavior) which is disrespectful or scornful. Insults may be intentional or accidental. why talk about Insults?

Many are victims of their past because of a Negative word someone said to them or about them. Quite a few are victims of their own self imposed prisons created with the negative bricks and steels of their minds. Less Brown the Internationally acclaimed motivational speaker narrated his own story of how he was mistakenly labelled Educable Mentally Retarded (EMR) and he stayed in that mental state until he met a gentle man who interrupted his conclusion about his life "someone's opinion of you, does not have to become your reality" Less Brown was told and that he says was the turning point in his life.

Studies conducted by Dr. John Cacioppo of the University of Chicago have shown what he calls "the Negative Bias" of the brain. Negative have much greater impact on our brain. Our brains are actually more sensitive and responsive to unpleasant news and remarks. That's why personal insults or criticism hit us harder and stay with us longer.

Dada J.P Vaswani ~ Spiritual leader, Author and Philosopher said: "Has someone offended you? Has someone insulted you? Remember; insults and unjust criticism are like bad coins. you cannot avoid getting them, but you can always refuse to accept them" Epictetus puts it this way "It is not he who reviles or strikes you who insults you, but your opinion that these things are insulting"

Poet, Essayist and Journalist Walt Whiteman said "Re-examine all that you have been told ........ dismiss that which insults your soul."

My Late Mother use to say "There are two ways to view what we call insults, it's either the Truth or a Lie. If it's the truth - then you should know your secret is out, don't argue, if it's a lie also don't argue with the person it's their opinion and your arguing will on aggravate the situation. In all Move on and Focus on your goal in Life." she was almost quoting France Playwright and Actor Moliere who said "A wise man is superior to any insults which can be put upon him, and the best reply to unseemly behavior is Patience and moderation"

Your Dream is bigger than all the insults and Like Frank Sinatra said "The Best revenge is massive success"
