NO MORE ACCIDENTAL PUBLIC SERVANTS

Image
AN INTENTIONAL PUBLIC SERVANT “Leadership is intentional Influence .” ~ Michael McKinney Malam Nasir El-Rufai wrote a book “The Accidental Public Servant” am not looking at the merits or demerits in El-Rufai’s book as I have not read the book, but merely using the title to make a point. A reviewer of the book points to many contradictions in the Book and my personal assessment of the Author’s turbulent foray into the world of politics is a pointer to the fact that Accidents are best avoided. I will read the Accidental Public Servant because it takes Time, Effort, Resources, Intelligence and above all Determination to write a Book. Back to the reason of this discourse; am using the book to point to the obvious leadership gap in the Country and my personal crusade to correct it. Let’s define the key word in El-Rufai’s choice of title for his book. “Accidental” it’s derived from the word Accident which means “ Something which happens unexpectedly

IS IT A LEADERSHIP OR FOLLOWERSHIP QUESTION

THE  LEADERSHIP  QUESTION “Your future is created by what you do today, Not Tomorrow.” ~ Robert Kiyosaki Are you one of those who believe that the problem of Nigeria is that of “Leadership”? You are not alone, but the question is what have you done to change the status quo? It’s very likely too that some in the corridors of power today also felt the same way in the past,  so why is it that almost 16 years of Democratic experiment, we are still crawling as a Nation? Why do we keep going in circles? And it seems there is no end in sight. Rather it’s like we are drifting more and more into the abyss. Is there hope? That we lack leaders with Vision is no news. We also lack leaders with passion and definitely we lack leaders who are ready for the task of Leadership. And those who find themselves in leadership positions today are not doing anything concrete to turn the tide around. Analyst point to the recent elections in Osun state, that the e

SAGBEGHA KOROKOROSEI OFFERS THE OLIVE BRANCH “I think we all have a selfish gene which rises to the top sometimes. But then we are also all capable of a sudden magnanimity.” ~ Jim Broadbent Hon. Sagbegha Korokorosei who was elected as Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Burutu, Saturday 10 th March, 2012 in a Congress that was adjudged to be free and fair but whose election was contested by a section of the Party in the Council Area who rather than have him sworn in went ahead to constitute another Executive. Peace Loving and Law abiding, Hon. Korokorosei went to Court. The long Court battle which lasted over two years was finally decided in favour of Hon. Korokorosei in a landmark Judgment in Suit No: FHC/WR/CS/189/2013 and presiding over by Hon. Justice M. Shitu Abubakar of the Federal High Court of Nigeria in the Warri Judicial Division Holden in Warri (see a Judgment that was never obeyed http://tinyurl.com/ole6u29 ). In a recent twis

THE BURDEN OF LEADERSHIP - CHIEF EBIKEME CLARK

Image
THE TASK BEFORE CHIEF EBIKEME CLARK The Peoples Democratic Party in Burutu LGA has spoken and Ebikeme Clark is the Flag bearer for the upcoming Council Polls. We congratulate Ebikeme Clark and urge him to get to work even before the polls as Burutu is a PDP Council Area. The first Task before Ebikeme Clark is to unify the Party at the Council Area. We will be playing the Ostrich, if we assume all is well with the PDP in Burutu. As a matter of urgency, Chief Ebikeme Clark should consult widely and bring the PDP under one umbrella as a divided PDP in Burutu will not benefit anyone. Second Task: Chief Ebikeme Clark should start drawing up his Policy Trust for the Council Area. Keying into the Three Point Agenda of His Excellency will help. Peace and Security, Infrastructure and Human Capital Development. Agreed there is very little a Council Boss can do given the peculiar terrain in terms of Infrastructural Development, Chief Ebikeme Clark can count on the  Goodwill  he h
