OGA AT THE TOP - PATIENCE IS GOLDEN

Image
"The two most powerful warriors are Patience and Time." ~ Leo Tolstoy That the Oga at the Top saga came to an end without him losing his life or job is prove that time heals all wounds and that no matter how bad the situation may be now, it has come to pass.

DEAR CEO, WHAT ARE YOU READING?

Image
To Take The Lead, You Must Read! “Until I feared I would loose it, I never loved to read. One does not love breathing.” ~ Harper Lee What you don't know is robbing you. To make it worse you can never know what you are missing by what you don’t know. A wise man once said “There are no Mountains anywhere, every man’s ignorance is his Mountain”  the Holy Scriptures say “My People are destroyed for lack of knowledge” The tactics of The Mafia Manager are only relevant for the industrial age? In the age of the industrial revolution, all you need is for the worker to show up in the industry and operate machine in automated manner and produce predicted results. We are now in the information age where the worker does not only need to show up, he also needs to show up happy to be absolutely productive. Please do away with the 48 Laws of power, the market place has changed long ago and only those reinventing themselves remain a class act in the market. To earn your lion&

DEAR ENTREPRENEUR, DO YOU LOVE YOUR STAFF?

Image
Dear Entrepreneur, do you love your Employees? Great Customer Service begins with great Employee Service. “In real life, the most Practical advice for Leaders is not to treat  Pawns like Pawns, Nor Princes like Princes, But all Persons like Persons.” ~  James MacGregor Burns You can’t possibly treat your staff as Pawns and expect them to threat the Customers as King. Value responds to Value. Your Service Personnel are your ambassadors and as Kate Zabriskie puts it “The Customers perception is your reality.”  Customers will love a company that loves its employees first. Love is contagious, you can’t fake it. “If you’re not serving the customer, your job is to be serving someone who is. ~ Jan Carlzon

ARE YOU KIND?

Image
“ Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” ~ Mark Twain What is kindness? “Kindness is having or showing a gentle nature and a desire to help others: wanting and liking to do good things and to bring happiness to others.” ~ Merriam-Webster Dictionary When to be Kind: When you win, be kind. When you are ignored, be kind. When you are stuck, be kind. When you are upset, be kind. When disappointed, be kind. When you are in doubt, be kind. When you are scared, be kind.

ARE YOU INVESTING TIME?

Image
“All men had been given time, But only few men know its Value.” ~ Sunday Adelaja “Time is the indefinite continued progress of existence and events that occur in apparently irreversible succession from the past through the present to the future” ~ Wikipedia The point to note is that time is irreversible and no one is disadvantaged when it comes to time, we all have 24 hours daily. The question is; are you investing or wasting your time and that of others? No one displays disregard for time like a Nigerian big man. A ministry in Delta State recently called a meeting, inviting stakeholders from different parts of the State and stated the time the meeting was to commence. The Hall was filled to capacity at the appointed time but the people who called for the meeting where no where near the hall even though the meeting was held in their office. The Chairman of the ministry a man with a reputation to have studied in the UK, came into the venue of the meeting like an emperor an

WHAT IS THE VALUE OF YOUR LIFE?

Image
The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines Value as “To think that (someone or something) is important or useful.” This is our working definition for these series. A wise man once said “Value attracts Value” How you value something or someone determines how you relate with that person or how you put that thing to use. Our working definition also suggest value is based on mindset, which is a function of the amount of information at your disposal about the person or thing Sean Buranahiran told a moving story of a boy who went to his father to know the Value of his life. The father handed him a stone and asked him to take it to the market, he instructed him, if anyone asked the price, don’t say anything, just raise 2 fingers. The boy went to the market and a woman was interested in buying the stone for her garden and asked the boy for the price, the boy did not say anything, but raised 2 fingers. The woman said $2? I will take it. The boy went to his father and said a woman wants t

WHAT’S YOUR EXCUSE?

Image
A pathetic story is recorded in St. John’s Gospel Chapter 5 from verse one to eighteen about a man who had been in the same spot for THIRTY – EIGHT long years; he was so accustomed to his way of thinking, so much so that when solution stared him in the face he did not recognize it. Our Lord Jesus Christ asked him; “Do you want to become well?” ~ John 5;6b {LEB}  “The sick man answered, “Sir, there is no one to help me get into the water………” ~ John 5:7a {ERV} King James Translation says “I have no man …” that seems to be the excuse of many, I have no man. My uncle refuses to help me, My parents did not send me to school, My Brother is rich but he won't help me, Ask yourself, who helped them? Over 95% of success stories are that of men and women who weathered the odds persevered and emerged champions in their chosen careers.  The stories abound in almost all industries and fields, if they made it, you too can. YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE and as Revd. Blessing Noah Oghelie pu

ARE YOU DOING THE EASY WORK OR THE RIGHT WORK? 2

“What is a college? An Institute of learning. What is Business? An Institute of learning. Life, itself, is an Institute of learning.” ~ Thomas Edison The beauty of life is in our ability to learn and unlearn. From the Stone Age to the Jet Age, man’s quest to improve himself, better his environment and contribute meaningfully to society had led to the massive changes we have seen. But it takes doing the right work which is hard work. The list; 1) INSPIRING: To Inspire means to “Make (Someone) want to do something or to cause (something) to happen.” When you inspire someone, you touch them inside and connects them to a state of being more excited, productive, and purposeful. Can you say you have inspired others? Its hard work. 2) LEARNING: To learn is “to gain knowledge or skill by studying, practicing, being taught, or experiencing something” and if we agree with Marian Wright Edelman that “Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your communit

ARE YOU DOING THE EASY WORK OR THE RIGHT WORK?

Image
Here is a list of some Easy Work that many of us are so accustomed to doing that breaking the circle may be tough. But break it, we must. 1) COMPLAINING: Benjamin Franklin said “Any fool can criticize, condemn, and complain and most fools do.” The time spent complaining, can be channeled to doing something about the situation. “You don’t like where you are, move you are not a tree” 2) BLAMING: Dwight D. Eisenhower Said “The search for a scapegoat is the easiest of all human expeditions” when you blame you end up loosing the courage and determination to do anything about the situation. Except you are a member of the ruling APC don’t ever be tempted to blame others, rather take responsibility. 3) DOUBTING: In the words of Bertrand Russell “The fundamental cause of the trouble is that in the modern world the stupid are cocksure while the intelligent are full of doubt” A wise man once said “Feed your faith, starve your doubt’s”
