THE REAL CHANGE
“If you want different results
then you have to take different actions
on a consistent basis.”
~ Billy Cox
A wise man once defined madness as “Doing the same
thing over and over again but expecting to get a different result” If what you
are doing had not produced the kind of result you expect, make a Change.
What is Change? Change is an act or process through
which something becomes different. To get a different result we need to Change;
Change our Mindset and other things will follow.
It was Leo Tolsoy who said “Everyone
thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.”
The late Music Legend in one of his timeless
classics wrote:
“If
you want the World to be a Better Place,
Take
a look at yourself and make that change”
~
Michael Jackson
The 44th and 45th President of the United States of
America Barack Obama aggress
to that assertion; “Change will not
come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve
been waiting for. We are the change we seek.”
The most important element and catalyst for a total change is the MIND. The
Holy Book says; “Don’t copy the behavior
and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by
changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you,
which is good and pleasing and perfect.” ~ Romans 12:2 NLT
Why is that so important? Many of
us still hold someone responsible for our failures; “if my Mother, Father,
Uncle, Aunty, etc had only done things differently I won’t be where I am today’!
As Jim Rohn puts it; “You must take personal responsibility. You cannot change
the circumstances, the seasons, or the wind, but you can change yourself. That is
something you have charge of.”
Change is never easy, especially
changing yourself, but when we learn to make little adjustments daily, we begin
to see results that will encourage us to do more. You are a Graduate and you
are jobless, sitting at home bitter and using social media to criticize the
Government will do nothing to improve your situation, but taking steps to find
or creating a job will help.
A young man graduated and was jobless for about a
year, instead of been bitter and critical and negative, he did something with
his precious time. He laid hands on Management Books and read about 60 Books in
one year and today is a Management Consultant who also employed some of his
course mates to work for him.
Change your approach, eating from
your fathers palm at age 30 is not a blessing, President Buhari became Military
Administrator of Northeastern State at the tender age of 33, Former Head of
State Yakubu Gowon made it there at age 32
One very catchy phrase during the MKO Abiola’s SDP and Bashir Tofa’s NRC political
tussle was this “Times are tough we know, but times with Tofa will be tougher.”
Now see it like this “Times are tough we know but settling for the status quo
will be tougher.” The economy is bad; Ali Baba made it, the Government is bad;
Tuface made it, nothing is working in Nigeria, Desmond Elliot made it;
corruption is killing the Country; Linda Ikeji made it.
An Indian is reported to have visited Nigeria and said “Nigeria is so blessed
you can pick the Naira on the Streets, but Nigerians are so Blind, they can’t
see it” Are we surprised most of our manufacturing is in the hands of
foreigners? Change your way of thinking, Wealth after all is a product of man’s
capacity to think and as Bishop David Oyedepo said “If you can think, what you
have is enough” Stop the indolence, stop the blaming, stop the negativity and
take some steps towards realizing that dream, it’s time to wake up that
sleeping giant.
