MINDSET: TO CHANGE THE WORLD, CHANGE YOURSELF
Successful people succeed because of mindset and failures in life fail because of mindset. If I say Basketball, it's very likely your mind will immediately go Michael Jordan, yet he retired from Basketball about Fourteen years ago. Michael Jordan is to Basketball what Mohammed Ali is to Boxing, Pele to Football etc. Jordan became such a phenomenon like all greats by overcoming challenges.Early in life he was told by students and his coach he was not good enough for the Basketball team and he was cut off from the team, that only made Michael worked harder, he said "Obstacles don't have to stop you, if you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it." Jim Rohn puts it this way "If you really want to do something, you will find a way. If you don't, you will find an excuse."
It was Ralph Waldo Emerson who said "Unless you try to do something beyond what you have mastered, you will never grow" and if you are not growing, you are not living. George Bernard Shaw said "I dread success. To have succeeded is to have finished one's business on earth, like the male spider is killed by the female the moment he has succeeded in his courtship. I like a state of continual becoming with a goal in front and not behind"
Vishen Lakhiani Founder/CEO of Mindvalley and author of the "Code of the Extraordinary Mind" said in his Speech "Why Happiness is the next Productivity" that at any point of our lives we could be in Four Different State of Mind;
1) NEGATIVE SPIRAL: This is a state where you are not happy with your life right now and you have no vision for the future, basically you are miserable. what some will call NFA - No Future Ambition. You are not happy with your life and you have no vision for the future so you are focused on being miserable which makes it a negative spiral as you spiral downwards into greater depression.
2) CURRENT REALITY TRAP: This is the state where you are happy, gloriously happy in the now but you have no vision for the future. Some people thinks this is a good state because you are happy now but here is the problem with the current reality trap. Tony Robbins says we all have two spiritual needs: "The need to grow and the need to contribute." In this state you are not growing and you can't contribute, so you are happy in boring utter mediocrity.
3) STRESS AND ANXIETY: In this state you are not happy in the now but you have great visions for the future. it's a good state because you have these terrific visions for the future but it's a state where you cannot function with maximum impact because you are not happy now.
4) FLOW: Wikipedia defines flow as "The mental state of operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in the feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity. In essence, flow is characterized by complete absorption in what one does." this is the ideal state where you have big visions for the future but you are also happy in the now.
