IN SEARCH OF IMMORTALITY

“A small fact:
You are going to die....does this worry you?” 


It’s safe to say in so many ways we all seek to be Immortal, not that we are not going to die but what should we be remembered for when we die. our vast acquisitions, power, position, streets named after us, magnificent edifices all point to something we want others to remember at our demise that he or she once lived.

It’s been a week or so of events from the uncommon act of The Governorship aspirant Elder Godsday Peter Orubebe celebrating his Birthday with Prisoners in Ogwashukwu, Sapele and Warri Prisons, culminating in an all night of Praise Unlimited at Glory Sanctuary Christian Center Ogbobagbene Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State 6th June, 2014. To the Death of an Amazon of a woman, our own Iron Lady who has inscribed her name in our Hearts   Prof. Dora Nkem Akunyili (OFR) 14th July, 1954 – 7th June, 2014 and the emergence of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as the Emir Of Kano.

The secret to happiness they say is living a recommendable life. Definitely Elder Godsday Peter Orubebe will not be remembered at his demise that he owned vast Properties or that he was a former Minister. At 55 he had touched so many lives in so many ways and continue to make a difference in countless lives daily. That I believe is the anchor of his desire to Govern Delta State and bring to bear his style of Leadership by meeting both the essential Spiritual and the physical needs of the people of the State. May God Help him in his quest and continue to grant him Peace of Mind, Good health and Grace in all things. Happy Belated Birthday Sir.

Prof. Dora Akunyili lived her life in such a way that even the undertaker will regret her passing. She has found Immortality in the hearts of Millions of Nigerians.

Love him or hate him, one thing is certain you cannot ignore the man Sanusi Lamido Sanusi former Governor of the Central Bank and current Emir of Kano. What I don’t understand is the relationship between Sanusi emerging as the Emir and what it holds for the Goodluck Jonathan Presidency.

Sanusi without a doubt is a man who knows his politics. His home state is in the grips of the opposition APC and the Emir of Kano the late Ado Bayero has been sick and he knows that the easiest way to win the hearts of the opposition is to criticize the government of Goodluck Jonathan.


So the question is “is Sanusi Lamido Sanusi an activitist who was fighting corruption or simply playing to the gallery?
 to win the hearts of the Opposition knowing that the Governor of his State has the final say on who emerges as the New Emir? I doubt if Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has found Immortality in the hearts of Majority of Nigerians or Citizens of kano as his Installation has been greeted with Protest according to the Press but one thing is certain; there is a great difference between Politics and the Traditional Institution that he now finds himself. it will do the Emir a world of good if he knows and acknowledges this divide. In all it's what we do for others that last, a lesson we must all learn in our Search for Immortality.
