PEACE WITH BOKO HARAM


Many have criticized and are criticizing the cheering News that the Federal Government has reached an agreement with the dreaded Boko Haram sect. Their reaction is that of cynicism and outright condemnation. Many even ask if a sane Government will ever sign an agreement with a group that had wrecked so much havoc in our land, querying if the United States of America will ever enter into such agreement with groups such as Al-Qaeda or ISIS?

My Take: Am not one given to conspiracy theories see: is there a conspiracy against Nigeria but evidence abounds that Al-Qaeda and ISIS are all creatures of the United States Government Policies. It's also a fact that the first major assignment of the Bush Administration after the horrible September 11, terror attacks on the Twin Towers on American soil, was to ferry the Bin Laden Family to safety in Saudi Arabia. The Bin Laden Family reportedly worth several Billions of Dollars still maintains close ties with the Bush Family.

We all know that despite the volatility of the North because of the activities of religious extremist; Boko Haram is a political Invention, whose solution will only be found on the Political table. The unarmed innocent civilians killed are Nigerians, the Military men killed in their numbers are Nigerians and we have even witnessed mutiny among our rank and file, if the Military carries out the death sentence passed on the mutineers, many more officers will be Killed (with this agreement, we can make a passionate appeal for their lives), the Sect Members are mostly Nigerians. Who stands to benefit if the Government goes into full scale war with Boko Haram? We have always advocated home grown solutions to our National Challenges. This is one of them.

On the flip side the misdirected #BringBackOurGirls campaigners will now sleep with ease. I say misdirected because their campaign should have been targeted at the sect, not the FG. Can you imagine Americans taking to the streets to protest #BringBackOurJournalist? The BringBackOurGirls campaigners are either ignorant of the intricacies involved in fighting terrorism or they were as many put it looking for cheap publicity.

Anyone who had been a victim of crisis will never pray for War. I have experienced one on a small scale during the Warri crisis and lost properties and relations in the process but very grateful to God that we are alive to tell the story. That's why am a strong advocate for Good Governance at all levels and the need to have only credible people run for public office. We all agree poverty is a contributory factor to violence. 

I had questioned where we stand now after the Kaima Declaration I had questioned where are the Constituency Projects, I Advocated "No More Accidental PublicServants"  where I slightly looked at the fact that Elder Godsday Peter Orubebe is head and shoulders over and above other contestants in the race for the Governorship slot In Delta State under the PDP, we will continue on this path until we see change.

The Ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) must do everything possible to ensure that credible candidates are fielded in Next year’s general elections especially in Delta State where it's questionable if we have judiciously invested the Billions that have accrued to the State in the past almost eight years. The State PDP headed by Barr. Chief Peter Nwaoboshi - A Lawyer, who disobeys Court Orders, treats the National Leadership of the Party with contempt, Slaps women in Public and is clearly in support of certain aspirants because of his own political ambition should not be allowed to play any role in the process.
