BUHARI'S CERTIFICATE - MORE QUESTIONS THAN ANSWERS
BUHARIGATE:
What ordinarily would have been a simple clarification had
been made complex by the APC and General Mohammadu Buhari. The APC keep
insisting this election is not about certificates, conveniently ignoring the
fact that the Party opted for the 72 years Old Buhari on the basis of his
INTERGRITY. If the old man had DELIBERATELY LIED UNDER OATH ABOUT HIS
CERTIFICATES, it puts in jeopardy his claims to Honesty.
DISPLAY OF ARROGANCE:
The General began his Press conference with
contempt for Nigerians “I only consented to address you this morning because of
the genuine concern expressed by many supporters and other well-meaning
Nigerians that the issue be addressed. Otherwise, I would have dismissed it for
what it is—sheer mischief and would not have considered it an issue worth the
nation’s while.” He could have as well began with “Fellow Nigerians” The
General only consented to address the issue because of Genuine Concern
expressed by his Supporters and other well-meaning Nigerians, someone should
please remind the General that this is a Democracy and not a Military
Dictatorship. He is answerable to the people at all times no matter how mundane
the issue is.
WHAT WILL YOU CALL
THIS?
“I had assumed all along that all my records
were in the custody of the Military Secretary of the Nigerian Army. Much to my
surprise, we are now told that although a record of the result is available,
there are no copies of the certificates in my personal file.” He had assumed!
Since 2003 the General had assumed, how convenient? He never bothered to check
if his certificates were there. News Flash: In a Democracy everything is
important, you don’t assume, you verify. The General had not obtained any other
qualification since he left the Army. Unlike General Yakubu Gowon who went to
school after he left office, GMB has no appetite for knowledge, and he can stay
without reading, but can’t stay without cows and have had about 150 of them
since 2003. We will also like to see your Library Sir, what kind of Books do
you read?
OBVIOUS LAPSES:
It was hoped that the Press Conference will
lay to rest all the issues surrounding BuhariGate, it had rather thrown up more
questions than answers.
A)
CLASS SIX: The
Nigerian Educational system changed to 6-3-3-4 in 1982. Even at that by the
time I left school in 1987 we ended at Class Five, before then we had the 6-5-4
system. How come the result of GMB is indicating that he graduated at Class
Six? Was the North having a different system of education from the west?
B)
The introduction of
Student Passport Photograph in their certificates was introduced in 1998/1999, so
how come we have the Passport Photograph of GMB appearing in the purported
certificate obtained in 1961?
C)
Since the Certificate
is an official document, it should bear the official name of the owner. Which
is the official name of GMB, is it Muhammadu or Mohammed as it appears in the
certificate?
D)
Now the icing on the
Cake, GMB said “However, before we obtain that, let me say for the RECORD
(emphasis mine) that I attended Provincial Secondary School, Katsina. I graduated
in 1961 with many prominent Nigerians, including General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua,
former Chief of Staff at the Supreme Headquarters ………………..” The Late General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua was born
March 5, 1943 and joined the Nigerian Army in 1959. GMB was born December 17,
1942 and joined the Nigerian Army in the same 1959, but they wrote their
Secondary School Certificate together in 1961. Amazing, they were already in
the Army before they got their Certificates. What was the qualification
required to join the Army in 1959?
Are these intended to convince the Sai Buharidist, not to vote for their leader? Far from it, just seeking the truth. Buhari should go ahead and apply to Cambridge to get the original of the certificate even though he had failed to tell us where he kept the original. An original looks like this please.
Many in the camp of the APC are
living examples of the Three Proverbial Monkeys; as long as it’s the APC, they see No Evil, Hear No Evil and Say No Evil. In their reasoning as long as a person is in the APC, he can do no wrong. But must it be so?
