Dr. Bukola Saraki the President of the Eight Senate is beginning his time as head of Nigeria's upper chambers in controversy. His emergence is enmeshed in controversy as his Party - The Ruling All Peoples Congress - had nominated Senator Ahmed Lawan from Yobe State but Dr. Saraki was able to work his way into the Presidency of the Senate with the help of his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party PDP that he assisted the APC to dislodge from Power.
that seems to be the beginning of controversies as his election was closely followed by the perceived approval of almost 9 Billion Naira as Wardrobe allowance that got the Nation talking and many have revisited the Jumbo Pay for Legislators.
HARDSHIP ALLOWANCE:
Of all the Allowances listed, the one that intrigues me the most is "HARDSHIP ALLOWANCE" which is 50% of the Basic. Now what is Hardship Allowance? It's defined as Additional pay that an expatriate employee may receive for living and working in potentially dangerous area. For example if an oil company sends an employee to work in a rig in a war zone, s/he will likely receive a hardship allowance in the form of higher Pay.Not surprisingly the figures released by the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) shows that The President, Commander-In-Chief and his Vice also receives Hardship Allowance.
My question; what constitute Hardship in the job of Ruling Nigeria or making laws in the National Assembly? How many Countries in the World Pays Hardship Allowance to their Presidents and Senators?
