THE KAIAMA DECLARATION ALMOST 16 YEARS AFTER ~ WHERE DID WE MISS IT - Part 1 One of the best pieces of Declaration and one that changed the way the Ijaws were viewed by the Nigerian State is The Kaiama declaration. 11 th December, 2014 will make it 16 years since that Historical document authored by some of the best minds in the Ijaw Nation was made. The declaration had 10 Observations and 10 Resolutions. Where do we stand today viz a viz these Observations and Resolutions I have reproduced here the Historic Document and my Personal deductions in red. THE OBSERVATIONS a. That it was through British colonization that the IJAW NATION was forcibly put under the Nigerian State b. To say Many Politicians do not have a conscience is an understatement, they are callous and wicked. In a Nation of so much poverty, can our Politicians justify entertaining guest with champagne that cost as much as 150,000 Naira a bottle in cartons and on daily basis? Why fly Private Jets in the midst of so much lack? Must they travel in long conveys, even in the face of Fuel Scarcity? Nothing typifies the heartlessness of Many Politicians as much as their failure to pay civil servants their meager Monthly Income. Why were the Governors unable to pay Salaries (Including some States that pockets 13% Derivation Monthly)? Governance is all about Management, we knew of the dwindling Oil revenue, how come we were unprepared for it? Yes we hail the so called ...

Nonetheless, I am not persuaded by the nebulous and loudly-echoed ‘economic and industrial gains’ slogan being orchestrated by some forces hiding under the EPZ Project to re-launch a back-door move for the acquisition of lands belonging to the people of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State. In this regard, I stand on the side of my people as I have always done, to ensure that the voice of reason was r...
