DEAR POLITICIAN; WHAT ARE YOU NEGLECTING? 5

WHAT WILL YOU BE REMEMBERED FOR?

“Live the way
you want to be
remembered”
~ purehappylife.com

Perhaps it has not crossed your mind, perhaps you have not given it serious thought, perhaps, perhaps, perhaps.
Life is transient is obvious, position much more, but many politicians carry on like they have a remote control for life and death and are too busy acquiring wealth and possessions to be concerned about legacy.

But you have to, you must begin to think about what you will be remembered for? Nehemiah said “Remember me, O my God, for good, according to all that I have done for this people.” ~ Nehemiah 5:19 MEV

Unfortunately, most of the things we labor for – The Houses, Exotic Cars, Trips abroad etc do not count as legacy. You see you’ve been laboring for the wrong things and for the wrong reasons perhaps.

Chief Obafemi Jeremiah Oyeniyi Awolowo GCFR (6 March 1909 – 9 May 1987) as a politician is not remembered for his personal possession but for what he did for his people and Nigerians.

I benefited from his Free Education program in the old Bendel State when his Unity Party of Nigeria UPN’s candidate Prof. Ambrose Alli emerged the first civilian Governor in 1979.

Apart from Free Education, he introduced Free Health Care for Children, built the first Television Service in Africa in 1959, established the Oduduwa group and the Newspaper he started in 1949 The Nigerian Tribune is still in print, the oldest surviving private Newspaper in Nigeria.

Remarkably too Pa. Awo as he was fondly called died peacefully at the age of 78. The current VP, is a grandson – In – Law to the man that was truly Yoruba’s first National Leader and his political movement – Awoism is at the heart of Yoruba Politics today.

So what will you be remembered for? Abraham Lincoln said “Fellow citizens, we cannot escape history. We, of this Congress and this administration, will be remembered in spite of ourselves. No personal significance, or insignificance, can spare one or another of us. The fiery trial through which we pass will light us down in honor or dishonor, to the latest generation.”

It’s wisdom to seek the Path of honor. As it had been proven time and again that; “A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches,……..” ~ Proverbs 22:1 MEV

We are here to bridge the gap!
