OSUN RERUN: A RECURRING DECIMAL 1
"Power is okay,
and stupidity
is usually harmless.
Power and stupidity together
are dangerous"
~ Patrick Rothfuss
Osun State was created out of the old Oyo State August 27, 1991. The State Known as the “Land of Virtue” has had a number of Military Administrators and Governors. The current being Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola
We concluded the last treatise with the assertion by my friend that Former President Jonathan prevented Rauf Aregbesola from collecting loans from the World Bank hence his resolve to source for loans locally to finance infrastructural development resulting in his inability to pay salaries.
This logic while its OK for market women discussion, does not hold water. Governors are essentially managers of resources - Man, Money and Materials. That a father took loans to pay school fees, and is therefore subjecting his children to starvation does not make sense.
The Governor himself said; his inability to pay Salaries stem from the fact that the Jonathan Administration reduced the allocation to the State (He did not specify if it was peculiar to Osun) and with a very high Monthly Wage Bill with over 12 Billion Naira loan hanging over his head, he had no option but to stop paying salaries for Months to finance the loan.
Osun releases N19.8bn for workers’ salaries — 11 days to governorship poll
Almost Four years after the exit of GEJ and PMB’s several ball out funds announced, Ogbeni Aregbesola is still indebted to the State Labor force.
"I think that for democracy to flourish, only people who can accept the pain of rigging (sorry defeat) should participate in an election" ~ Adams Oshiomhole APC Chairman
"You brood of vipers! how can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks." ~ Matthew 12:34 RSV
To conclude that a Man who had been his Chief of Staff for the eight years of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola’s misrule succeeding him is the best option for the State is to me overtaxing the Patience of the Good People of Osun State.
Concluded!
Your opinion is indeed vital for a healthy democracy. However, I think the citizens must come to regard the societal fabric as incumbent on their self actualisation as groups and a nation. This presents an opportunity for united organisation and development of our dear Nigeria.
