EMPLOYEE EXPECTATIONS: JOB SECURITY
Before I embarked on looking at the Expectations of Employees, I had thought that "JOB SECURITY" is the number one expectation. Not surprisingly it comes as the fifth on the list.
Who will want to stay in an oppressive environment, an environment devoid of camaraderie, trust, communication, etc.
From findings Job Security is of advantage to the organization much more than the employee. Any worker that knows his onions will get hired any day, anytime by another organization. Even in the midst of massive unemployment, employees with the midas touch keep changing jobs.
Building an effective organization requires team work and getting the right team is essentially a function of Job Stability. Again we must caution, the "Barrack Mentality" kills morale and will not engender staffs giving their ultimate best.
In the beginning, we stressed the need for effective communication, part of it must include the specific rules and regulations guiding employee behaviors that will lead to dismissal.
Specific benefits attached to employees that serve for a required number of years tells the workforce that Job Security is a priority to Management and so encourage them to give their best.
A wise man once said "The feeling of insecurity is inimical to our sense of wellbeing, as it causes anxiety and stress, which harms our physical and mental health. It is no surprise then that, according to some surveys, workers across the world value job security more highly than wages."
We can help you eliminate the stress and anxiety among the workforce.
