THE PLACE OF COMMUNICATION 3 - BUILDING BONDS


Communication, effective Communication is the life wire of any organization. Executives must do everything possible to keep Communication lines open. Productivity and effectiveness as an establishment depends on effective communication. Morale is high when Communication flows freely Horizontally and Vertically

Here are a few tips to help you create effective Communication:

OFFICE BONDS ARE PRICELESS:

The bond of friendship is a driving factor in employee engagement. Other than money in the bank at the end of the Month, peer relationships is another driving force in employee dedication - many will go the extra mile for a friend
Executives must take the lead in forging this all-important bonds by encouraging a culture of respectful Camaraderie born out of effective Communication.
When differences occur as it is in most human interactions, let your Conflict resolution team handle it in an attitude of win-win for all parties and further strengthen the bonds of friendship. This is priceless 

APPRECIATE RESULTS:

Studies show, employees need recognition when they go the extra mile or meet a set target. Management must show such appreciation and or recognition immediately. Reward degrades when its delayed. Publicly acknowledging an achievement encourages others to do same.
Many organizations has such things as "Staff of the Month" "Team of the Month"
Awards can also be given in such areas as Punctuality, Neatness, Dedication, Discipline, overall best sales person etc

SPEAK SOFTLY:

Former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher said "Power is like being a lady, ........ If you have to tell people you are, you aren't" it was Rumi who said "Raise your words, not your voice. It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder"
Even when you want to reprimand a staff do it in the spirit of love and in private. Nothing kills morale faster than open rebuke in a loud tone of voice.

THE KAIAMA DECLARATION ALMOST 16 YEARS AFTER ~ WHERE DID WE MISS IT  - Part 1 One of the best pieces of Declaration and one that changed the way the Ijaws were viewed by the Nigerian State is The Kaiama declaration. 11 th December, 2014 will make it 16 years since that Historical document authored by some of the best minds in the Ijaw Nation was made.
